FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Delivery, returns, warranties, installation. More detail is also on the FAQ page.
Do you deliver across the UK?
Yes for mainland UK. Highlands and islands are accepted when the carrier can reach them; the cart shows the freight for that postcode. Outside the UK, email us first with the product link and the full address before you order. Two freight scales. Stoves, inserts and accessories: shipping £35.99 incl. VAT, free from £350 of appliances (fuels never count toward that threshold). Firewood, pellets and compressed logs: never free delivery; freight scale is £19.99 for 1 pallet, £32.99 for 2 pallets, £44.99 for 3, then +£10.99 per extra pallet. The cart shows the exact amount before you pay. Orders ship from the UK.
Every accepted UK postcode gets a freight price in the cart, including Highlands and islands when the carrier serves them. Delivery is arranged by the carrier. For a stove or a heavy pallet the lorry needs usable access: parking, driveway, gate wide enough for a pallet truck. Mention anything awkward (slope, soft ground, shared courtyard) in the order notes.
How long until I receive my order?
Once payment clears, we usually start picking within 24 to 48 working hours. Weekends and bank holidays do not count in that window. Orders placed late Friday afternoon are often handled on the next working Monday.
After hand-over to the carrier, plan on about 7 to 9 working days for a normal run. Stoves, inserts and fuel pallets move on heavier logistics, so weight, stock and access at your address can stretch that a little. You get the tracking number by email as soon as the parcel or pallet leaves us.
Can I pay on delivery?
No. You pay online by card on our checkout before anything ships.
Local firewood rounds often take cash or a cheque on the truck. We do not work that way. A carrier delivers the pallet or appliance; the driver is not allowed to take cash, cheques or card payments. There is no cash-on-delivery option.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Visa and Mastercard through the site checkout. Pay in full by card; the VAT-inclusive total is fixed before you confirm.
No cheques and no pay-on-delivery. We do not “hold” stock on a bank transfer. If your bank declines the card (online limit or 3-D Secure), fix it with them and try again, or email contact@thestovecentre.com with the product you wanted and we will tell you what we see on our side.
Where is this firewood or pellet pack sourced?
It depends on the lot. When the supplier gives us origin, species, moisture and labels (ENplus A1, DINplus, PEFC and the like), we put them on the product page.
We do not stamp “100% French” on every line: some pellets and densified logs are packed elsewhere in Europe. If origin or certification matters for your appliance, read the page carefully or send us the product link at contact@thestovecentre.com before you buy.
Do you install stoves?
No. We sell the appliance and ship it; we do not fit stoves or connect flues.
We can confirm power, dimensions and weight from the datasheet if you email the product link. Building Regulations, chimney work, HETAS registration and insurance stay with a local professional. Grant schemes that need an installer invoice are outside what we sell.
Can I return an item?
Yes. You have 14 calendar days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 from the day you receive the goods, with the usual exceptions (bespoke items, opened sealed hygiene goods, delivered fuels, and so on).
On top of that we accept a commercial return up to 45 days after delivery if the item is complete, unused, resaleable and comes back with the invoice. Email contact@thestovecentre.com with your order number before you ship anything; we send the return steps so you do not pay for a parcel we cannot accept.
What warranty covers the products?
If the goods are faulty or not as described, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you repair, replacement or refund within a reasonable time. Keep the invoice.
Some makers add their own parts warranty; when they do, the product page says so. If something fails, write to contact@thestovecentre.com with photos, the exact reference and your order number so we can open the case with the right party.
How should I store firewood and pellets?
Keep logs dry, off the ground if you can, and out of the rain. Moisture figures on the product page when we have them from the supplier.
Pellets hate damp. Leave them in the bag or in a dry room. If they sit in a wet shed after delivery, combustion suffers and we cannot treat that as a manufacturing fault.
Who am I buying from and where does my order ship from?
Perth Stove Centre Ltd is a UK company registered in Perth (Perth and Kinross, Scotland). We sell hearth appliances and fuel ourselves; this is not a marketplace listing. You reach us at contact@thestovecentre.com.
You buy on this site; orders ship from the UK to the UK address on your checkout after card payment. Legal notice, terms and company details sit in the footer. There is no high-street counter and the driver does not take cash. We never ask you to pay outside checkout.
How do you explain your prices?
On stoves, inserts, flue parts and accessories we often buy end-of-line lots or maker stock rotations. The goods are still new, in maker packaging when the factory supplies it.
On fuels the price is for the lot on the page (pallet, bag count, kg). It is not a fake “flash” cut. Shipping on fuels is never free (£19.99 / £32.99 / £44.99 by pallet count, then +£10.99); the amount appears in the cart before you pay. No shop pickup, no cash to the driver.
