Why are these the best natural wood wool firelighters?

Amazingly powerful! Discover our wood wool firelighters

These firelighters are both 100% natural and really powerful. They allow easy lighting of any hearth: fireplaces, inserts, wood stoves, fire pits, wood ovens, burners, etc., or charcoal barbecues as well. One is enough because their large size gives them a flame duration and intensity that allows the fuel to catch fire properly.

Made from wood fiber and natural vegetable wax

The wood wool used in the manufacturing comes from sustainably managed forests, and the wax is of natural origin. Nothing to do with the chemical cube firelighters that are mostly sold. You can touch it without having to wash your hands, and they don’t smoke with strange colors.

Do you really want to use chemicals in your home or when cooking your food?

Buy the best natural firelighter

The key points of a firelighter are:

  • strong ignition power
  • long burning time
  • easy to handle
  • an eco-friendly product

Our firelighters fully meet these four considerations. That is why they are the best natural firelighters you will find on the market, and customer reviews give them an average rating of 4.4/5.

Delivered in minimalist kraft bag packaging, in lots of 20 units, you can buy them alone, in combined delivery with a pallet of logs, or shipped by cartons to your home.

The firelighter useful in an open fireplace, for the wood stove, and the barbecue

Our eco-friendly wood wool firelighters are ideal for starting the combustion of any type of wood fuel.

  • In an open fireplace, it is really important to ensure that the start will be successful to prevent the fire from smoking and spreading odors in the house.
  • For a wood stove, the goal is to quickly raise the temperature of the firebox so that the stove reaches its maximum performance level.

Usage Tips

Tip for lighting compressed logs

  • Create a small cavity with 3 or 4 pieces of compressed logs and place your fire starter in the center.
  • Light it and let it go without moving the elements; your fire will start and gain strength without any intervention on your part.

Tip for starting a fireplace fire

  • Option 1: the traditional method, in which you stack the fire starter, then the kindling on top, and finally on top of that the
  • Option 2: the method called TOP DOWN, in which you do the opposite, the big logs at the bottom, the kindling above, and the fire starter at the top of the pyramid. The fire "descends" towards the large logs. This method is more eco-friendly because it emits less unburned wood gas.

Advice for lighting a charcoal barbecue

Use large pieces around and above, without smothering the fire starter.

Your frequently asked questions about our wood wool fire starters

How to light a fire quickly with a quality fire starter?

The ignition phase is essential, and doing it quickly even more so. It saves wood, because the ignition phase does not generate heat, and it also helps avoid black smoke in the atmosphere.

It's simple, choose our fire starters and 4 to 8 pieces of kindling. A top-down lighting and your fire will start for sure!

What can be used as a fire starter?

  • pine cone,
  • pumice stone soaked in alcohol,
  • paper towel soaked in oil,
  • large tuft of straw,
  • mixture of vegetable wax and wood chips,
  • etc.

Fire starters to avoid: gel or liquid ones

Avoid gel or liquid fire starters at all costs as they are made from chemical materials and can deposit on the food during barbecue cooking.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Moisture, pallet drop-off, storage, who we are, and what the price covers.

Is this Ready to Burn / dry enough?

Packaged firewood sold in small volumes in England must meet the Ready to Burn rules (under 20% moisture) when that scheme applies. Pellet lines on this site are sold to the grade shown on the page (commonly ENplus A1).

Wet fuel wastes heat, dirties glass, and in pellet appliances can swell and jam the auger. If a bag arrives torn and rain-soaked, refuse the wet stock with the driver or photograph it and email us within 48 hours with the order number.

Is delivery on a pallet, and can the lorry reach me?

Fuel usually arrives on a pallet to kerbside or the nearest firm ground the truck can reach. Drivers will not carry 15 kg bags up stairs or across a muddy lawn as a standard service.

If you live on a narrow lane, have a soft verge, or need a smaller vehicle, email us before you pay. Access failures and wet torn bags are the complaints we see most on fuel forums; flagging access early avoids a wasted journey.

Who sells and ships this product?

The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.

You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].

Is the product new?

What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.

How do you explain the displayed price?

Fuel prices follow the grade, bag count, and pallet make-up shown on this page. Firewood, pellets, and compressed logs never count toward the £350 free appliance delivery threshold, and fuel freight is never free whatever else is in the cart.

The cart shows the fuel shipping line before you confirm. We do not take cash from the driver, and we do not offer depot collection on this site.

How should I store pellets or logs once they arrive?

Keep bags sealed, indoors or under a proper cover, off damp concrete. A leaky shed or open porch is enough humidity to ruin a winter's pellets.

Logs need airflow if you buy larger volumes; Ready to Burn sealed nets are meant to stay closed until use. Do not stack fuel against the stove body.

Do I pay the driver for the wood or pellets?

No. The order is paid online before dispatch. The driver is not owed cash or a card payment for fuel or freight.

If someone at the door asks for money beyond a documented surcharge you already agreed with us in writing, refuse and contact us with the order number.

What if bags are torn or the pallet is wet?

Stay with the delivery, note dated reservations on the consignment note, photograph the damage, and email [email protected] within 48 hours. That is how carrier claims for fuel actually move.

Accepting a soaked pallet without notes makes replacement harder. Dry bags that are only scuffed on the outer wrap are usually fine; refuse fuel that has been sitting in water.
