Application & Area of Use
The Justus Austin 7 wood stove is ideal for living spaces with a heating output of 7 kW, an efficiency of 80%, and meets the requirements of energy efficiency class A+.
The stove can be operated either dependent on room air or independent of room air. For room air-independent operation, it has a connection for external combustion air with a diameter of 100 mm. This is particularly recommended in well-sealed houses or with controlled ventilation systems to avoid negative pressure in the living space. The corresponding connection piece for external combustion air must be ordered separately.
Approved fuels include wood, wood briquettes, and lignite briquettes. The maximum log length is 30 cm. The smoke pipe connection with a diameter of 150 mm can be made at the back or on the top, offering flexible installation options. When setting up, safety distances of 200 mm to the sides and back, as well as 800 mm to the front from combustible materials, must be observed.
With a weight of 100 kg, the stove stands stably but should be installed by two people. The dimensions of 1179 x 565 x 455 mm (H x W x D) allow for space-saving integration into various living spaces. For installation, stove pipes are additionally required for connection to the chimney.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about the Justus Austin 7 Wood Stove
What room size is suitable for the Justus Austin 7 wood stove? With its rated heat output of 7 kW, the stove is designed for rooms up to 144 m³, which corresponds to about 58 m² of living space at standard ceiling height. Thanks to the high efficiency of 80%, it operates particularly efficiently and is ideal for open living areas in well-insulated homes. In poorly insulated homes or very high rooms, the usable heated area should be calculated accordingly reduced.
How does the 24-hour continuous operation work on the Austin 7?The stove is approved for continuous operation over 24 hours - a quality feature that not all fireplaces offer. Since wood does not retain embers as long as coal, fuel must be added regularly. The robust construction and the Justus triple air system ensure an even and clean burn even during extended operation.
Which firewood is suitable for the Justus Austin 7?Permitted fuels include wood, wood briquettes, and brown coal briquettes. Oven-dry logs with a maximum of 20% residual moisture, such as beech, oak, or ash, are recommended. The maximum log length is 30 cm. Wet or treated wood reduces efficiency and increases emissions. More about this in our magazine:Storing Firewood Correctly: Tips for Optimal Drying and Storage
Can the wood stove be operated independently of room air?Yes, the stove has a connection for external combustion air with a diameter of 100 mm. This allows both room air-dependent and room air-independent operation. Especially in well-sealed houses or with controlled ventilation systems, the external air supply is recommended to avoid negative pressure in the living space. The corresponding connection nozzle must be ordered separately.
How do I properly start up the Austin 7?Start with dry kindling and fire starters in the lower combustion chamber area. Fully open the air supply and gradually add larger logs once the fire has started. TheJustus triple air system automatically ensures optimal air dosing. Adjust the air supply according to the desired temperature once it is reached. More about this in our magazine: Lighting your wood stove correctly - step by step
Which safety distances do I have to observe for the Austin 7?The following minimum distances must be observed from combustible components: 200 mm to the back and sides, and 800 mm to the front. These distances ensure safety and are required for approval by the chimney sweep. When positioning the stove, you should also allow sufficient space for maintenance work and for adding fuel.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Installation, Smoke Control rules, delivery, and the price on this page—plain answers before the reviews.
Do you install this stove?
We do not install stoves or flue systems ourselves. Perth Stove Centre Ltd supplies the appliance and arranges carriage to your address. A qualified installer registered with HETAS (or an equivalent competent-person scheme) must fit the stove, connect the flue, and certify the work against Building Regulations Part J where that applies in your area.
We can confirm external dimensions, shipping weight, and the nominal heat output from the manufacturer datasheet so your fitter can check room size and liner diameter before you commit. Smoke Control Area authorisation, planning constraints, and grants that need an installer's invoice sit outside this online sale. Most buyers order the stove here and book the fitter once a delivery week is known.
How does stove delivery work at home?
Orders on this site leave our UK warehouse for the delivery address you enter at checkout. Deliveries outside the United Kingdom need an email agreement before payment, because carrier rules differ. Palletised stoves and inserts are handed over at kerbside or the nearest firm ground the HGV can reach. The driver does not carry units upstairs, through narrow hallways, or across soft ground without prior arrangement.
Before you pay, compare the pallet weight and crate size on this page with your doorway, path, and any steps. If access is tight, tell us when you order. When the goods arrive, inspect the packaging while the driver is still there. If the crate is crushed, torn, or clearly mishandled, write dated reservations on the delivery note (not a vague "subject to unpacking" line), take photographs, and email [email protected] within 48 hours with your order number so we can open a carrier claim.
Who sells and ships this product?
The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.
You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].
Is the product new?
What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.
How do you explain the displayed price?
The catalogue mixes stoves, inserts, flue parts, and accessories from manufacturer end-of-line batches and scheduled stock rotations. The goods stay new; when the factory ships retail packaging, that is what arrives on the pallet.
Carriage for qualifying appliances is £35.99 including VAT, or free when the appliance subtotal in your basket reaches £350. Kiln-dried firewood, pellets, and other fuel lines never count toward that threshold. Checkout shows the exact shipping line before you pay. No shop pickup, and nothing is settled with the carrier at the door.
Can I burn wood if I live in a Smoke Control Area?
That depends on your local authority and on whether this exact model is listed as a Defra exempt appliance for wood. Smoke Control Areas are set by the council, not by us; check with them (or their map) before you buy if you are unsure.
Exempt appliances still need dry Ready to Burn wood and correct use. An open fire is not a Defra-exempt route for wood. If the product title or datasheet does not state Smoke Control / Defra exemption, ask us with the model reference before you pay rather than guessing from a similar stove.
Will an Ecodesign stove be hard to light or smoke into the room?
Modern Ecodesign stoves run cleaner air paths than older free-burning models. Forum complaints about smoke into the room usually track back to wet wood, a cold or undersized flue, or lighting with the air controls shut too early, not to the label alone.
Use kiln-dried Ready to Burn logs, get a HETAS fitter to size the liner and terminal, and follow the maker's lighting sequence. If your chimney has always been weak, tell the installer before the stove is ordered; a new firebox will not fix a flue that will not draw.
How do I choose the right kW for my room?
Nominal output on the page is a test figure, not a promise for every house. Insulation, ceiling height, open-plan layout, and whether the stove is the only heat source all matter more than picking the biggest number on the filter.
A HETAS installer (or a heat-loss calculation) is the safe route. Oversizing leads to slumbering and dirty glass; undersizing means the stove runs flat-out and still leaves cold corners. We can confirm the datasheet output and external size so your fitter can check the room before you commit.

Cast iron feels solid. Door seal good. Living room reaches temperature in under an hour.
Charlotte N. –
Heavy unit; the carrier left it at the door. We installed it ourselves.
