Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0 Wood Stove with Integrated Heat Storage

The Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0 wood stove combines a modern, minimalist design with functional design elements such as prism glass and various cladding options. With its nominal output of 5.5 kW, it heats up to 88 m³ of room volume and creates a cozy atmosphere. The special feature of this wood stove is the integrated W+ (heatPLUS) storage. With the heat charging of the storage stones, the stove radiates heat energy into the room for many hours after the fire has gone out.

The body is made of high-quality steel, the door and panel are made of solid cast iron, and the combustion chamber is made of vermiculite. The Swedish stove is available in different versions. In addition to the model in puristic black steel, you can also get the stove with a soapstone or sandstone cladding. The prism glass gives the fireplace an individual touch. The integrated glass cleaning system, a compartment for tidy storage of firewood, and a comfortably tempered door handle leave nothing to be desired.

Special Features & Advantages

  • Heat Storage W+ "warmPLUS"
This special storage material is placed in the dome of the stove via the combustion chamber and can, depending on the charge, continue to release heat to the room for up to 10 hours after the fire has gone out.
  • 24-Hour Continuous Operation
As a special feature of quality and environmental friendliness, the stove was designed to be operated for over 24 hours. Since wood does not hold the embers as long as coal, regular fuel must be added here.
  • Justus triple air system
The special air system always ensures optimally dosed combustion air, which makes combustion particularly clean and efficient.
  • Solid cast iron door and cast floor
The robust construction made of solid cast iron ensures a long service life and optimal heat storage.
  • Air-flowed handle
The ergonomically shaped handle with its internal air circulation ensures cool access even during the heating phase.
  • Multi-point locking
The multi-point locking prevents the fire door from warping due to high temperatures and ensures stable combustion quality through particularly good tightness.
  • Integrated glass cleaning air system
A specifically directed airflow prevents the condensation and deposition of flue gases on the inner side of the glass and keeps the glass clean.
  • Various cladding options
Available in the versions black steel, with soapstone cladding, or with sandstone cladding for individual design possibilities.

Application & Area of Use

The Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0 wood-burning stove, with its 5.5 kW nominal heat output, is ideal for rooms up to 88 m³ in volume. With its compact weight of 126 kg, it should be set up by two people - a fixed placement should be planned in advance. The minimum distances to combustible materials are 200 mm at the back and sides, and 800 mm in the front.

Instead of using the valuable room air, air from outside can optionally be used for combustion. For this, the stove must be retrofitted with a connection nozzle for external combustion air. This is especially necessary in small or well-sealed rooms where only little oxygen is available.

The flue pipe connection with a diameter of 150 mm can be made both at the back and at the top. The height from the bottom edge to the center of the flue pipe stub is 1080 mm. Approved fuels include wood, wood briquettes, and lignite, with a maximum log length of 25 cm.

Do you still need the appropriate accessories for your Justus stove, e.g. stove pipes to connect to the chimney? No problem, you will of course also find them in our shop.

Approvals & Standards

  • Ecodesign Stage 2 - Meets the requirements of the 2nd stage of the Federal Immission Control Ordinance for environmentally friendly combustion
  • DIN EN 13240 - Tested according to the European standard for wood stoves
  • 15a B-VG for Austria - Approved for the Austrian market according to local building regulations

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about the Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0 Wood Stove

What room size is suitable for the Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0 wood stove?

With a nominal heat output of 5.5 kW, the stove heats rooms up to 88 m³ in volume. This corresponds to about 35-40 m² of living space with a normal ceiling height. In well-insulated houses, it can also heat larger open living areas. The integrated W+ heat storage extends heat emission for up to 10 hours after the fire has burned out.

Can I install the wood stove myself or do I need a professional?

In principle, handy individuals can install the stove themselves. With a weight of 126 kg, a second person is required. Important are the minimum distances: 200 mm to combustible materials at the back and sides, 800 mm in front. However, connection to the chimney and inspection by the chimney sweep are mandatory. More about this in our magazine:Installing a wood stove yourself: Instructions, Tips & Chimney Sweeper Inspection

How does the W+ heat storage work and how long does it emit heat?

The W+ heat storage consists of special storage stones weighing about 35 kg, which are placed above the combustion chamber in the dome of the stove. These stones charge up with heat while heating and release it continuously to the room for up to 10 hours after the fire goes out, depending on the charge. This significantly extends the heating effect beyond the actual burning time.

Which firewood is suitable for the Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0?

Oven-dry split wood with a residual moisture content of a maximum of 20% is recommended, e.g., beech, oak, or ash. Wet or treated wood reduces efficiency and increases soot deposition. The maximum log length is 25 cm. Alternatively, wood briquettes or brown coal briquettes can also be used. More on this in our magazine: Storing firewood correctly: Tips for optimal drying and storage

Is the stove suitable for room air-independent operation?

Yes, the stove is equipped as standard with a connection for external combustion air. This is particularly important in modern, tightly sealed houses with controlled ventilation systems in order to avoid negative pressure in the living space. The external combustion air connection has a diameter of 100 mm and is located at the rear of the stove. The corresponding connection socket must be ordered separately.

What does 24-hour continuous operation mean for the Justus Usedom 5 W+ 2.0?

The stove is designed for unlimited operation over 24 hours - a quality feature for environmental friendliness and durability. Since wood does not keep the embers as long as coal, fuel must be refilled regularly. The Type 1 certification also allows for multiple installations on the chimney with other appliances.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Installation, Smoke Control rules, delivery, and the price on this page—plain answers before the reviews.

Do you install this stove?

We do not install stoves or flue systems ourselves. Perth Stove Centre Ltd supplies the appliance and arranges carriage to your address. A qualified installer registered with HETAS (or an equivalent competent-person scheme) must fit the stove, connect the flue, and certify the work against Building Regulations Part J where that applies in your area.

We can confirm external dimensions, shipping weight, and the nominal heat output from the manufacturer datasheet so your fitter can check room size and liner diameter before you commit. Smoke Control Area authorisation, planning constraints, and grants that need an installer's invoice sit outside this online sale. Most buyers order the stove here and book the fitter once a delivery week is known.

How does stove delivery work at home?

Orders on this site leave our UK warehouse for the delivery address you enter at checkout. Deliveries outside the United Kingdom need an email agreement before payment, because carrier rules differ. Palletised stoves and inserts are handed over at kerbside or the nearest firm ground the HGV can reach. The driver does not carry units upstairs, through narrow hallways, or across soft ground without prior arrangement.

Before you pay, compare the pallet weight and crate size on this page with your doorway, path, and any steps. If access is tight, tell us when you order. When the goods arrive, inspect the packaging while the driver is still there. If the crate is crushed, torn, or clearly mishandled, write dated reservations on the delivery note (not a vague "subject to unpacking" line), take photographs, and email [email protected] within 48 hours with your order number so we can open a carrier claim.

Who sells and ships this product?

The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.

You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].

Is the product new?

What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.

How do you explain the displayed price?

The catalogue mixes stoves, inserts, flue parts, and accessories from manufacturer end-of-line batches and scheduled stock rotations. The goods stay new; when the factory ships retail packaging, that is what arrives on the pallet.

Carriage for qualifying appliances is £35.99 including VAT, or free when the appliance subtotal in your basket reaches £350. Kiln-dried firewood, pellets, and other fuel lines never count toward that threshold. Checkout shows the exact shipping line before you pay. No shop pickup, and nothing is settled with the carrier at the door.

Can I burn wood if I live in a Smoke Control Area?

That depends on your local authority and on whether this exact model is listed as a Defra exempt appliance for wood. Smoke Control Areas are set by the council, not by us; check with them (or their map) before you buy if you are unsure.

Exempt appliances still need dry Ready to Burn wood and correct use. An open fire is not a Defra-exempt route for wood. If the product title or datasheet does not state Smoke Control / Defra exemption, ask us with the model reference before you pay rather than guessing from a similar stove.

Will an Ecodesign stove be hard to light or smoke into the room?

Modern Ecodesign stoves run cleaner air paths than older free-burning models. Forum complaints about smoke into the room usually track back to wet wood, a cold or undersized flue, or lighting with the air controls shut too early, not to the label alone.

Use kiln-dried Ready to Burn logs, get a HETAS fitter to size the liner and terminal, and follow the maker's lighting sequence. If your chimney has always been weak, tell the installer before the stove is ordered; a new firebox will not fix a flue that will not draw.

How do I choose the right kW for my room?

Nominal output on the page is a test figure, not a promise for every house. Insulation, ceiling height, open-plan layout, and whether the stove is the only heat source all matter more than picking the biggest number on the filter.

A HETAS installer (or a heat-loss calculation) is the safe route. Oversizing leads to slumbering and dirty glass; undersizing means the stove runs flat-out and still leaves cold corners. We can confirm the datasheet output and external size so your fitter can check the room before you commit.

6 reviews for Justus Usedom 5 W 2.0 Wood Stove 5 kW Soapstone

  1. David L. –

First embers after twenty minutes. Followed the instructions, otherwise it smokes on light-up.

  2. Ryan C. –

Airwash works if I use seasoned logs only. Green wood fogs the glass — my fault.

  3. Benjamin Q. –

Heavy unit; the carrier left it at the door. We installed it ourselves.
