The separate primary and secondary air control allows precise control of the combustion for optimal heat output and longer burn time. - Compact dimensions
With a height of 86.5 cm and a base area of 45.5 × 44.2 cm, the stove can be placed in a space-saving way without sacrificing heating performance.
Application & Area of Use
The Wamsler Luke, with its room heating capacity of 182 m³, is ideal for well-designed living areas, kitchens, or common rooms in holiday homes. The combination of heating and cooking makes it particularly valuable in situations where independence from other energy sources is desired.
The top flue connection with Ø 120 mm simplifies installation and requires a supply pressure of 12 Pa at nominal output. The compact external dimensions of 45.5 × 44.2 × 86.5 cm and the weight of 85 kg allow flexible placement even in smaller rooms.
As fuel, wood and wood briquettes with a maximum log length of 33 cm are approved. The safety distances are 500 mm to the rear and sides and 900 mm to the front - these distances ensure safe operation and protection of combustible materials.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about the Wamsler Luke Wood Stove
What room size is suitable for the Wamsler Luke Wood Stove? With a nominal heat output of 8 kW, it heats rooms up to 182 m³ in volume. This corresponds to approximately 70-80 m² of living space with standard ceiling height in well-insulated buildings - ideal for open living-dining areas or larger kitchens.
Which fuels can I use in the Luke and what is the consumption?Approved fuels are natural logs and wood briquettes with a maximum length of 33 cm. During nominal operation, it consumes about 2.3 kg of fuel per hour. Thanks to an efficiency of 80.7%, it utilizes the wood very efficiently.
How does the cooking plate work and what can I prepare on it?The cast iron cooking plate uses the heat from the stove to warm food and drinks. It is suitable for keeping food warm, slow simmering, and reheating - perfect for soups, tea, or simple dishes, especially in holiday homes without an electricity connection.
What are the connection dimensions of the stove for my chimney? It has a top flue connection with a diameter of 120 mm at a height of 86.5 cm. The required draft is 12 Pa at nominal output. The compact external dimensions of 45.5 × 44.2 × 86.5 cm make placement easier.
What safety distances do I need to maintain when installing it?Maintain 500 mm to the back and sides and 900 mm to the front from flammable materials. These distances ensure safe operation and protect surrounding materials from the heat radiation of the 85 kg stove.
How do I properly light the Wamsler hatch?Start with dry kindling and firelighters, open the primary air fully, and reduce it after the fire catches. The secondary air ensures clean combustion. Use only dry wood with a maximum of 20% residual moisture for optimal results. More on this in our magazine: Lighting a stove properly - step by step
How can I heat efficiently with the hatch and save fuel?Use the separate primary and secondary air control for optimal combustion. Heat regularly with smaller amounts of wood instead of rarely with large amounts. The cooking plate uses the heat twice, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of the system. More about this in our magazine: Efficient Heating with the Fireplace: Tips for Optimal Warmth

Frequently asked questions about this product
Installation, Smoke Control rules, delivery, and the price on this page—plain answers before the reviews.
Do you install this stove?
We do not install stoves or flue systems ourselves. Perth Stove Centre Ltd supplies the appliance and arranges carriage to your address. A qualified installer registered with HETAS (or an equivalent competent-person scheme) must fit the stove, connect the flue, and certify the work against Building Regulations Part J where that applies in your area.
We can confirm external dimensions, shipping weight, and the nominal heat output from the manufacturer datasheet so your fitter can check room size and liner diameter before you commit. Smoke Control Area authorisation, planning constraints, and grants that need an installer's invoice sit outside this online sale. Most buyers order the stove here and book the fitter once a delivery week is known.
How does stove delivery work at home?
Orders on this site leave our UK warehouse for the delivery address you enter at checkout. Deliveries outside the United Kingdom need an email agreement before payment, because carrier rules differ. Palletised stoves and inserts are handed over at kerbside or the nearest firm ground the HGV can reach. The driver does not carry units upstairs, through narrow hallways, or across soft ground without prior arrangement.
Before you pay, compare the pallet weight and crate size on this page with your doorway, path, and any steps. If access is tight, tell us when you order. When the goods arrive, inspect the packaging while the driver is still there. If the crate is crushed, torn, or clearly mishandled, write dated reservations on the delivery note (not a vague "subject to unpacking" line), take photographs, and email [email protected] within 48 hours with your order number so we can open a carrier claim.
Who sells and ships this product?
The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.
You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].
Is the product new?
What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.
How do you explain the displayed price?
The catalogue mixes stoves, inserts, flue parts, and accessories from manufacturer end-of-line batches and scheduled stock rotations. The goods stay new; when the factory ships retail packaging, that is what arrives on the pallet.
Carriage for qualifying appliances is £35.99 including VAT, or free when the appliance subtotal in your basket reaches £350. Kiln-dried firewood, pellets, and other fuel lines never count toward that threshold. Checkout shows the exact shipping line before you pay. No shop pickup, and nothing is settled with the carrier at the door.
Can I burn wood if I live in a Smoke Control Area?
That depends on your local authority and on whether this exact model is listed as a Defra exempt appliance for wood. Smoke Control Areas are set by the council, not by us; check with them (or their map) before you buy if you are unsure.
Exempt appliances still need dry Ready to Burn wood and correct use. An open fire is not a Defra-exempt route for wood. If the product title or datasheet does not state Smoke Control / Defra exemption, ask us with the model reference before you pay rather than guessing from a similar stove.
Will an Ecodesign stove be hard to light or smoke into the room?
Modern Ecodesign stoves run cleaner air paths than older free-burning models. Forum complaints about smoke into the room usually track back to wet wood, a cold or undersized flue, or lighting with the air controls shut too early, not to the label alone.
Use kiln-dried Ready to Burn logs, get a HETAS fitter to size the liner and terminal, and follow the maker's lighting sequence. If your chimney has always been weak, tell the installer before the stove is ordered; a new firebox will not fix a flue that will not draw.
How do I choose the right kW for my room?
Nominal output on the page is a test figure, not a promise for every house. Insulation, ceiling height, open-plan layout, and whether the stove is the only heat source all matter more than picking the biggest number on the filter.
A HETAS installer (or a heat-loss calculation) is the safe route. Oversizing leads to slumbering and dirty glass; undersizing means the stove runs flat-out and still leaves cold corners. We can confirm the datasheet output and external size so your fitter can check the room before you commit.

Olivia P. –
Airwash works if I use seasoned logs only. Green wood fogs the glass — my fault.
James T. –
Cast iron feels solid. Door seal good. Living room reaches temperature in under an hour.
David L. –
First embers after twenty minutes. Followed the instructions, otherwise it smokes on light-up.
Olivia P. –
Wood stove draws cleanly; glass stays clear with dry wood.
Christopher D. –
Matches the listed kW. Secondary air easy to set. Ash pan empties without mess.
Jack F. –
Heavy unit; the carrier left it at the door. We installed it ourselves.
