Ready to Burn — suitable for UK domestic heating when stored dry.
You receive a pallet: 84 packs × 12 densified overnight briquettes. The displayed price is that of the pallet (same unit as the other fuels on the site), not a "per pallet" rate.
CharacteristicsA long-lasting wood log
Overnight logs are also densified logs; they are 100% natural, made only from wood bark. Placed on glowing embers, they will release heat for 6 to 8 hours and maintain the temperature of your home.
Long-lasting heat with 5 to 8 hours of embers
Long-lasting logs (which can also be called overnight briquettes) are made of wood, and only that, the bark.
On fire, once ignited, this briquette forms a glowing brick that spreads a gentle and lasting heat. These overnight densified logs can be used during your absence from home during the day or at night.
The advantage of the long-lasting log is that the temperature in the room does not drop and the heating system remains warm. It is the ideal fuel for a complementary range with cylindrical densified logs during the day or with traditional firewood.
Energy savings, wood savings!
When heating with wood, money is lost when it is necessary to heat the mass. Maintaining the temperature of a warm dwelling is efficient, but heating the mass of the heating device as well as the mass of the house requires abundant energy.
So once the mass is hot, it plays an interesting role.
These bark briquettes keep the cast iron hot for hours. You maintain a constant atmosphere at night in your fireplace and thus optimize your consumption.
You easily relight your fire in the morning, or after your workday, with densified wood from the day and do not need to wait for the chimney to heat up again.
How many night logs should you order?
If you want to keep a stove or fireplace hot 24 hours a day, then we recommend planning for about 1/4 of your consumption in night logs.
And as a reminder, a full pallet weighing about 1.000 kg is equivalent to using 4 cubic meters of logs.
So if you usually burned 4 cubic meters, then the distribution would be 3/4 of a pallet of day logs + 1/4 of a pallet of night logs.
Or, since our best prices are for a full pallet: a full pallet of day logs + 1/4 pallet of night logs
How to properly use a densified night log?
What quantity of night logs should you choose?
Here is a calculation for a low-power stove:
On average, two NIGHT SimplyBricks are enough for the night.
With just a quarter of a pallet, you will maintain a mild temperature for about 3 or 4 months.
Because a pack contains 12 night bricks, so approximately 6 nights (if 2 logs per night). And so with 1/4 of a pallet, 21 packs, you then have 21 x 6 nights, which is about 4 months.
Two bark briquettes side by side will create more heat. Two SimplyBricks stacked on top of each other will last longer.
How to make a fire with compressed night logs?
They will not ignite on their own. They are used once the fire is already hot, after a traditional wood fire or a daytime cylindrical log blaze. For lighting, a bed of embers that is still quite lively (not a dying fire) is used to ignite the product. The glowing brick is thus created.
What is the burning duration of compressed night wood bricks?
Depending on the device, with the air draft set to minimum, it will burn slowly for 5 to 8 hours, maybe even longer, and there will still be embers in the early morning to relight the fire.
How does a night log heat?
The night log heats slowly and will allow the room temperature to be maintained. Be careful, if the goal is to raise the living room temperature, then it is better to choose daytime compressed logs.
The more night logs we add to the hearth, the greater the heat released will be.
In 1kg of night logs, there is the same calorific power as in 1kg of day logs. The difference between the two is the duration over which the heat will be released. So, with a day log that lasts on average 1.5 hours, a night log will release, at the same moment, 4 to 5 times less heat.
In which cases do we use a night log?
The objective is to produce gentle heat in the fireplace. We can distinguish 3 main uses for this slow combustion:
- at night when the inhabitants of the house cannot reload the wood stove or insert during their sleep
- when we are away from the house during the day, for example for work
- when looking for less heat output than a daytime log in the autumn or early spring
What are the differences between DAY Compressed Logs and NIGHT Densified Logs
A different composition that slows down combustion
In the DAY densified log, it is the heartwood with very little, or even no, bark that is used. This wood log produces beautiful flames and heat quickly and intensely for about 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours (depending on the appliances). This log is easily recognizable by its light color.
In the densified log of NIGHT, a compound is added that will slow down combustion. This can be crushed bark or a plant fiber such as miscanthus or flax shives. The purpose of this log is to have a slower burn by forming a block of hot embers in the hearth of your wood stove so that heat is generated over a longer period and in a more uniform way.
This log is easily recognizable by its dark brown color when it is made of bark, but it can remain very light with pieces of crushed plant material when made from miscanthus.
A slow, complementary combustion
The compressed day log is very easy to use as a replacement for traditional cut wood (with all the benefits of high-performance wood heating and the added practical aspect).
The night brick is used in smaller volumes. It is there to keep the cast iron of your installation warm, thus avoiding having to restart a fire from scratch every day.
You will place one to two night logs on top of each other (forming a stack) on a bed of embers or a well-started hot fire for a burn lasting 6 to 8 hours, whereas a compressed DAY log burns for about 1h15 to 2h.
The amount of heat released by the night log at moment T is low compared to the other logs because the goal is to spread this heat over time. Here, we are indeed talking about trying to maintain the temperature of a room or device, not to raise the temperature.
Thus, it can be summarized that the day log is used to raise the temperature of a room to a comfortable level, during periods of active presence in the living space, whereas the night log will maintain the temperature, preventing it from dropping too low during periods of absence from the living space (at night, or during a workday, for example).
A slightly higher price
The price per kilo of these NIGHT logs is a bit higher, but you use much less of them, and with a few kilos, you will keep your installation's temperature nicely warm for 6 to 8 hours.
It is an ideal fuel when there is a need for low heat output, such as at night or during the day when there is less presence in the house. The rest of the time, when you want a greater heat output, you will use the DAY logs.
Advantages of night logs The Stove Centre
Less effort and less storage
Like briquettes or cylindrical night logs, they are packaged in packs of 4 to 5 logs or 12 briquettes, making handling clean and simple. Storing a pallet of compressed firewood at night takes only a few dozen minutes, and the required storage space is reduced by 3!

Less effort, less storage
Thanks to packaging a few briquettes per pack, your storage space will be reduced and even minimal for your heating needs.
The packs being rectangular and sturdy, stacking will be very easy, as well as handling.
We recommend storing in a dry place and protected from moisture, such as the storage conditions of a garage.
An ecological approach 100% natural components
100% tree-based, 100% from sustainably managed forests.
The production uses sawmill by-products, thus recycling production residues, chips, sawdust, and untreated bark. This allows for a product that is really well dried and ready to use, while avoiding cutting down trees.
No more wood chore with the calorific log!
- Uncertainties about the actual moisture content (will the fire smoke, heat well?)
- Problem determining the actual amount of firewood delivered when a truck dumps a bulk pile
- A tedious storage time
- Splinters, mold, insects getting into the house.
Suitable for all types of closed fireplaces: wood stoves, inserts, and chimneys
This night log is wood, and it burns in all wood fireplaces. However, for the ember heat to remain and for the long burning duration to last, the fireplace must be closed.
Otherwise, the arrival of cold air from the chimney opening on one side will too quickly slow down the combustion and extinguish the fire before everything is completely burned. During this "slow" fire phase, smoke may be emitted.
Which firewood for the night?
At night, what matters is a long burning duration even if the instant release is low. You can use a large oak log that you burn slowly and will char, or night logs.
The advantage of the night log is that its technical characteristics have been made for that!

Frequently asked questions about this product
Moisture, pallet drop-off, storage, who we are, and what the price covers.
Is this Ready to Burn / dry enough?
Packaged firewood sold in small volumes in England must meet the Ready to Burn rules (under 20% moisture) when that scheme applies. Pellet lines on this site are sold to the grade shown on the page (commonly ENplus A1).
Wet fuel wastes heat, dirties glass, and in pellet appliances can swell and jam the auger. If a bag arrives torn and rain-soaked, refuse the wet stock with the driver or photograph it and email us within 48 hours with the order number.
Is delivery on a pallet, and can the lorry reach me?
Fuel usually arrives on a pallet to kerbside or the nearest firm ground the truck can reach. Drivers will not carry 15 kg bags up stairs or across a muddy lawn as a standard service.
If you live on a narrow lane, have a soft verge, or need a smaller vehicle, email us before you pay. Access failures and wet torn bags are the complaints we see most on fuel forums; flagging access early avoids a wasted journey.
Who sells and ships this product?
The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.
You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].
Is the product new?
What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.
How do you explain the displayed price?
Fuel prices follow the grade, bag count, and pallet make-up shown on this page. Firewood, pellets, and compressed logs never count toward the £350 free appliance delivery threshold, and fuel freight is never free whatever else is in the cart.
The cart shows the fuel shipping line before you confirm. We do not take cash from the driver, and we do not offer depot collection on this site.
How should I store pellets or logs once they arrive?
Keep bags sealed, indoors or under a proper cover, off damp concrete. A leaky shed or open porch is enough humidity to ruin a winter's pellets.
Logs need airflow if you buy larger volumes; Ready to Burn sealed nets are meant to stay closed until use. Do not stack fuel against the stove body.
Do I pay the driver for the wood or pellets?
No. The order is paid online before dispatch. The driver is not owed cash or a card payment for fuel or freight.
If someone at the door asks for money beyond a documented surcharge you already agreed with us in writing, refuse and contact us with the order number.
What if bags are torn or the pallet is wet?
Stay with the delivery, note dated reservations on the consignment note, photograph the damage, and email [email protected] within 48 hours. That is how carrier claims for fuel actually move.
Accepting a soaked pallet without notes makes replacement harder. Dry bags that are only scuffed on the outer wrap are usually fine; refuse fuel that has been sitting in water.
