You will receive a 40 cm extra-dry firewood bundle on a pallet: 1.3 m³ loose, or about 1.25 stere.

The pallet contains several types of hardwood.

This extra-dry wood consumes 30% less than regular wood (most often dried to 35% moisture over 12 months), ensuring the best performance for your heating device.
Heavy woods are more difficult to ignite but have a high calorific value and burn slowly.
It is also necessary to avoid woods that cause soot buildup, such as conifers and wood that is too wet, as they produce too much smoke and deposit resin in the ducts.
The diameter of 90% of the logs ranges between 5 and 15 cm.

This is therefore ideal for a good balance between embers and lively flames.
Heavy type wood or light type wood?
The rest of the logs will be larger, with sections ranging from 15 to 18 cm.
You will find in your bundle smaller pieces of wood that can be used to start the fire.
These pieces, which could not be removed by screening (sorting), are offered and not counted in the volume.
Depending on the dispatch plant, this product may be delivered to you in a plastic bale or netting.
Thanks to this mix of hardwood, you will benefit from strong heat and slow burning for lower consumption.
Light woods are easy to ignite but burn too quickly (poplar, maple, lime, alder...)

The wood is well split into 40 cm logs, clean, ideal for a fireplace or a large insert.
It is highly recommended to avoid burning coniferous wood in your wood stove as it clogs your heating system, generates a lot of smoke, and emits sparks during combustion (open fireplace). You should avoid burning wood that splits, such as chestnut and plane tree, as they throw off embers; especially do not use them in open fireplaces.

Order preparation and tracking at The Stove Centre

Delivery and tracking

Orders leave our Perth warehouse for the UK address on your order. Heavy appliances and fuel go on a pallet and stop at kerbside (or the closest firm ground the lorry can reach).

  • Preparation: usually within 24 to 48 working hours after payment.
  • Transit: about 7 to 9 working days after the carrier collects, depending on region and stock. Weekends and bank holidays do not count.
  • Shipping costs: appliances £35.99 incl. VAT, or free from £350 of appliances. Firewood and pellets use pallet rates and are never free. Delivery policy.
  • Tracking: emailed when the carrier takes the goods.

Returns and refunds

  • Cooling-off: 14 days under UK distance-selling rules. We also take unused, resaleable returns up to 45 days. Details on the Returns page.
  • Refund: started after we receive and check the return.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Moisture, pallet drop-off, storage, who we are, and what the price covers.

Is this Ready to Burn / dry enough?

Packaged firewood sold in small volumes in England must meet the Ready to Burn rules (under 20% moisture) when that scheme applies. Pellet lines on this site are sold to the grade shown on the page (commonly ENplus A1).

Wet fuel wastes heat, dirties glass, and in pellet appliances can swell and jam the auger. If a bag arrives torn and rain-soaked, refuse the wet stock with the driver or photograph it and email us within 48 hours with the order number.

Is delivery on a pallet, and can the lorry reach me?

Fuel usually arrives on a pallet to kerbside or the nearest firm ground the truck can reach. Drivers will not carry 15 kg bags up stairs or across a muddy lawn as a standard service.

If you live on a narrow lane, have a soft verge, or need a smaller vehicle, email us before you pay. Access failures and wet torn bags are the complaints we see most on fuel forums; flagging access early avoids a wasted journey.

Who sells and ships this product?

The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.

You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].

Is the product new?

What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.

How do you explain the displayed price?

Fuel prices follow the grade, bag count, and pallet make-up shown on this page. Firewood, pellets, and compressed logs never count toward the £350 free appliance delivery threshold, and fuel freight is never free whatever else is in the cart.

The cart shows the fuel shipping line before you confirm. We do not take cash from the driver, and we do not offer depot collection on this site.

How should I store pellets or logs once they arrive?

Keep bags sealed, indoors or under a proper cover, off damp concrete. A leaky shed or open porch is enough humidity to ruin a winter's pellets.

Logs need airflow if you buy larger volumes; Ready to Burn sealed nets are meant to stay closed until use. Do not stack fuel against the stove body.

Do I pay the driver for the wood or pellets?

No. The order is paid online before dispatch. The driver is not owed cash or a card payment for fuel or freight.

If someone at the door asks for money beyond a documented surcharge you already agreed with us in writing, refuse and contact us with the order number.

What if bags are torn or the pallet is wet?

Stay with the delivery, note dated reservations on the consignment note, photograph the damage, and email [email protected] within 48 hours. That is how carrier claims for fuel actually move.

Accepting a soaked pallet without notes makes replacement harder. Dry bags that are only scuffed on the outer wrap are usually fine; refuse fuel that has been sitting in water.
