The compressed log

In our opinion, the best wood fuel still remains compressed wood logs... A dry, clean, compact wood that burns hot. You really need to try this...

Wood bale on a 1.6 steres pallet in 25cm

This bale consists of wood that has gone through a dryer to reach the ultimate moisture level, which will make the fire light instantly, without smoke, and provide heating power for your home.

  • Logs dried in a biomass oven to reach a moisture content between 17 and 20%
  • Quantity of 1.6 cubic meters in the form of loose wood held together with a plastic net
  • Logs cut into 25cm
  • Hardwood (beech, oak, hornbeam, ash, etc...)
  • Cut and produced in the UK
  • The drying process removes part of the bark
  • Less dust for a pleasant hand feel

Dry wood "kiln quality"

This has spent several days in a high-temperature oven to reduce its water content. This forces the wood to be drier than if it had dried for 4 years. For wood cut in the forest, it is the best we can do!

Thanks to this moisture content of around 17 to 20%, there are many advantages:

- easy to light

- less smoke

- high-temperature combustion

- clean glass and less ash

With this level of quality, this amount of wood will release about 30% more heat than if you had used wood that had only been dried for a year.

We can say that this pallet is then equivalent to 2.08 cubic meters of semi-dry wood!

Hardwood only, the best hard woods!

It is recommended to favor the use of hardwoods for wood fireplaces in order to limit the soiling of your chimney on the one hand and to generate dense and long-lasting embers.

The wood has been split into quarters of varying sections from 6 to 14 cm in order to have wood that is both useful for lighting and for having large pieces that last a long time.

Firewood pallet delivered to your home

Our wood is packaged on a pallet, so that it can be delivered to you cleanly and easily by the delivery person.

The wood bale is wrapped, and you have the option to unload the bale, or to store the logs in the bale. Make a T-shaped cut with a cutter at the top of the packaging, and you will be able to regularly take what you need while keeping the rest of the wood stock protected from water.

The small 25cm logs are perfect for low-power appliances

The 25cm log is suitable for small fireplaces. Whether it’s a city apartment fireplace, a small Scandinavian stove, or a corner insert, the small-sized log is increasingly sought after.

Usage advice:

How to store high-performance wood?

The basic principle of storing firewood is normally to stack it and place it in a ventilated area because the remaining moisture needs to be removed.
But with logs that have already been kiln-dried, which are drier than wood that would be 4 years old, it can be stored in a closed place, like a garage or a closed shelter.
It also remains possible to store it outdoors, and as long as it is stored under suitable conditions, it will not regain moisture.

What is Top-Down fireplace ignition?

It is the principle of starting a fire with logs that reverses the position of the logs relative to the kindling. Indeed, the large logs are placed at the bottom, the kindling and fire starter on top, and the fire is allowed to spread from top to bottom. Hence the English name Top-Down and the UK name "Allumage inverse".

Frequently Asked Questions:

What moisture content is best for firewood?

There are 4 main levels of moisture content in firewood. When it is cut, the wood is said to be "green," with around 50% moisture. Then, between 35 and 25% moisture, the wood is called semi-dry. Between 20 and 25% moisture, the wood is "dry in the traditional or natural way." And finally, when the wood is between 17 and 20%, it is called ultra-dry or high-performance wood.
Of course, the drier it is, the better for the quality of your fire!

When should you buy your firewood?

It all depends on the type of wood you want to buy! If you are proactive and buy your wood in the spring, you have the choice to take semi-dry wood because you will have time to finish drying it in your shelter, but if you buy in December/January, you should prefer steamed wood, in order to guarantee a level of quality not affected by the damp winter.

It also depends on the size and the possibility of drying the wood: To finish drying logs, the storage place needs to be protected, ventilated, and large enough. If your home is not really suitable for that, you should prefer wood that is ready to burn.

Do you take back the pallets upon delivery?

Our pallets are what are called "disposable" pallets; they are not returnable or picked up by the carrier. You can therefore reuse them as you see fit for storage or DIY purposes.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Moisture, pallet drop-off, storage, who we are, and what the price covers.

Is this Ready to Burn / dry enough?

Packaged firewood sold in small volumes in England must meet the Ready to Burn rules (under 20% moisture) when that scheme applies. Pellet lines on this site are sold to the grade shown on the page (commonly ENplus A1).

Wet fuel wastes heat, dirties glass, and in pellet appliances can swell and jam the auger. If a bag arrives torn and rain-soaked, refuse the wet stock with the driver or photograph it and email us within 48 hours with the order number.

Is delivery on a pallet, and can the lorry reach me?

Fuel usually arrives on a pallet to kerbside or the nearest firm ground the truck can reach. Drivers will not carry 15 kg bags up stairs or across a muddy lawn as a standard service.

If you live on a narrow lane, have a soft verge, or need a smaller vehicle, email us before you pay. Access failures and wet torn bags are the complaints we see most on fuel forums; flagging access early avoids a wasted journey.

Who sells and ships this product?

The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.

You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].

Is the product new?

What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.

How do you explain the displayed price?

Fuel prices follow the grade, bag count, and pallet make-up shown on this page. Firewood, pellets, and compressed logs never count toward the £350 free appliance delivery threshold, and fuel freight is never free whatever else is in the cart.

The cart shows the fuel shipping line before you confirm. We do not take cash from the driver, and we do not offer depot collection on this site.

How should I store pellets or logs once they arrive?

Keep bags sealed, indoors or under a proper cover, off damp concrete. A leaky shed or open porch is enough humidity to ruin a winter's pellets.

Logs need airflow if you buy larger volumes; Ready to Burn sealed nets are meant to stay closed until use. Do not stack fuel against the stove body.

Do I pay the driver for the wood or pellets?

No. The order is paid online before dispatch. The driver is not owed cash or a card payment for fuel or freight.

If someone at the door asks for money beyond a documented surcharge you already agreed with us in writing, refuse and contact us with the order number.

What if bags are torn or the pallet is wet?

Stay with the delivery, note dated reservations on the consignment note, photograph the damage, and email [email protected] within 48 hours. That is how carrier claims for fuel actually move.

Accepting a soaked pallet without notes makes replacement harder. Dry bags that are only scuffed on the outer wrap are usually fine; refuse fuel that has been sitting in water.
