But also, our champion:
The compressed log
In our opinion, the best wood fuel is still compressed wood logs... A dry, clean, compact wood that burns hot. You really need to try this...
Pallet of 1.2 stere of dry firewood cut into 40cm
To make your fire easily, choose this, dried according to strict standards and delivered ready to use, with optimized heating performance.
- Controlled moisture 17 to 20%
- Pallet of 1.2 cubic meters of stacked logs
- Logs split to 40 cm, convenient for inserts
- Selection of hardwoods: hornbeam, beech, oak, ash only

- Cleaned to limit bark and fines
- Guaranteed cleanliness, easy handling
Steamed wood: the guarantee of higher calorific value
Our logs go through advanced industrial drying that opens the wood fibers, lowering the moisture to an optimal level for combustion: 17 to 20% at the core!!
Result: easy ignition, instant heat, stove glass that stays clean, and practically no ashes.
You benefit from a 30% thermal gain compared to conventional wood dried for only 1 year. One can say that this pallet is ultimately equivalent to 1.5 cubic meters of this type of wood!
A selection of hard deciduous wood
Selecting hard wood such as oak or beech significantly improves the efficiency of your fire, limiting the soiling of your installation while extending the burning time.
The logs, split between 10 and 18 cm in diameter, ensure easy handling and consistent heat from the beginning to the end of the fire.
Wood pallet delivered to your home throughout the UK
Receive your firewood quickly on pallets, ready to be used or stored in a sheltered place.
The shrink-wrapped packaging protects the wood from rain and keeps your logs easily accessible. You can make a cut at the top of the plastic wrap to take the logs one by one.
Easily check the amount of wood as soon as it is delivered and enjoy simplified management for your heating.
The 40cm, suitable for large fireplaces
Choosing 40cm logs ensures that the wood fits easily into the combustion chamber of high-power fireplaces.
This not only allows for easy supply but also a burn that will fill the entire width of large fireplaces.
Consider asking your supplier for wood that is slightly shorter than the width of your fireplace to avoid any surprises upon delivery.
Usage tips:
Where to store your wood bundle?Wrapping the pallet will protect the logs from the rain. So the pallet can remain outdoors. But if you have space in your garage, we recommend storing the logs under cover so that their wonderful ultra-low moisture level is maintained for as long as possible.
How to clean a very dirty fireplace glass?Nothing is better than the ash from your fire to clean your glass. Moisten a ball of newspaper and dab it in the fine ash from your fire. Make circles on the glass to remove the soot that is ingrained. Repeat the operation several times as long as the dirt remains stuck to the glass. Finish with one or two passes without ash at the end, just water, so that your glass shines.
Generally, the ash is enough, but if you have areas where it doesn't work, you will need to use chemical products.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Where can you buy firewood?Dry firewood, at the "drying dry" level like this pallet, can be purchased from professional wood suppliers like The Stove Centre. The type of installation required to reach this low moisture level demands a significant investment and is not within the reach of every logger.
How many logs are in a stere? We never count the number of logs in a stere because each wood diameter is different. But we did the exercise for you, and we counted. We estimate that there are approximately:
- 250 logs of 33cm in a stere
- 170 logs of 50cm in a stere
No, the pallets are not taken back and can be kept, used to arrange wood storage, or for any other DIY project.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Moisture, pallet drop-off, storage, who we are, and what the price covers.
Is this Ready to Burn / dry enough?
Packaged firewood sold in small volumes in England must meet the Ready to Burn rules (under 20% moisture) when that scheme applies. Pellet lines on this site are sold to the grade shown on the page (commonly ENplus A1).
Wet fuel wastes heat, dirties glass, and in pellet appliances can swell and jam the auger. If a bag arrives torn and rain-soaked, refuse the wet stock with the driver or photograph it and email us within 48 hours with the order number.
Is delivery on a pallet, and can the lorry reach me?
Fuel usually arrives on a pallet to kerbside or the nearest firm ground the truck can reach. Drivers will not carry 15 kg bags up stairs or across a muddy lawn as a standard service.
If you live on a narrow lane, have a soft verge, or need a smaller vehicle, email us before you pay. Access failures and wet torn bags are the complaints we see most on fuel forums; flagging access early avoids a wasted journey.
Who sells and ships this product?
The seller is Perth Stove Centre Ltd, a company registered in Perth, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. We trade as a specialist hearth and solid-fuel retailer: we hold stock, prepare orders, and ship the reference shown on this page. We are not a marketplace listing other people's inventory. Registered office, company number, and contractual terms are in our legal notice.
You buy on thestovecentre.com, pay by card before dispatch, and we deliver to the mainland UK address on your order confirmation. No walk-in counter, no depot collection, and no cash or card payment to the driver. Sizing, lead times, or access questions before checkout: [email protected].
Is the product new?
What you see here is normally current manufacturer stock, supplied new and in the maker's factory packaging when the factory still provides one. Ex-display, end-of-line, or refurbished lines are uncommon on this catalogue; when they do appear, the product page states that in plain words in the description.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Keep the email confirmation and invoice. Where the manufacturer publishes a warranty for this reference, that warranty sits alongside for eligible parts under the maker's own registration rules and time limits.
How do you explain the displayed price?
Fuel prices follow the grade, bag count, and pallet make-up shown on this page. Firewood, pellets, and compressed logs never count toward the £350 free appliance delivery threshold, and fuel freight is never free whatever else is in the cart.
The cart shows the fuel shipping line before you confirm. We do not take cash from the driver, and we do not offer depot collection on this site.
How should I store pellets or logs once they arrive?
Keep bags sealed, indoors or under a proper cover, off damp concrete. A leaky shed or open porch is enough humidity to ruin a winter's pellets.
Logs need airflow if you buy larger volumes; Ready to Burn sealed nets are meant to stay closed until use. Do not stack fuel against the stove body.
Do I pay the driver for the wood or pellets?
No. The order is paid online before dispatch. The driver is not owed cash or a card payment for fuel or freight.
If someone at the door asks for money beyond a documented surcharge you already agreed with us in writing, refuse and contact us with the order number.
What if bags are torn or the pallet is wet?
Stay with the delivery, note dated reservations on the consignment note, photograph the damage, and email [email protected] within 48 hours. That is how carrier claims for fuel actually move.
Accepting a soaked pallet without notes makes replacement harder. Dry bags that are only scuffed on the outer wrap are usually fine; refuse fuel that has been sitting in water.
